Who We Are
Opening August 2027, Tempo Montessori brings authentic, tuition-free Montessori education to Tulsa families as a public charter school open to all.
Grounded in the proven Montessori method, Tempo nurtures curiosity, independence, and whole-child development in multi-age classrooms where children learn at their own rhythm. The school launches with Children’s House (Pre-K4 and Kindergarten) and Grade 6, growing to serve PK3 through 8th grade—and as the only year-round public school in the Tulsa area, Tempo offers families something genuinely new.
Only 10% of Montessori schools in the United states are public.
As a tuition-free public charter school, Tempo aims to reduce the barriers to access quality education.

Families Looking for quality education in a nurturing community
Launching with Children’s House (Pre-K4/K) and 6th Grade and growing to serve PK3 through 8th grade, Tempo is ideal for parents looking for a community where their children can thrive from early childhood through adolescence.

Why Montessori?
Children are encouraged to grow and learn at their own pace
Stronger reading, memory, and executive function – gains that grow over time
Kids learn to run their own minds. Stronger focus, self-control, and memory -not just higher test scores

What is a Montessori program?
A Montessori program is a child-centered approach to education that focuses on self-directed activity and hands-on learning. Instead of sitting at desks listening to a teacher lecture, children choose their own tasks from a meticulously designed, age-appropriate environment.
Key features of a Montessori program include:
-
Mixed-Age Groups: Classrooms typically span three-year age ranges (e.g., ages 3–6). Older children naturally mentor younger ones, while younger children look ahead to more advanced work.
-
Specially Designed Materials: Instead of textbooks or worksheets, children work with materials designed to teach abstract concepts like math and language through touch and sight.
-
Teachers as Guides: Rather than directing the whole room at once, they observe each child’s unique interests and progress, offering individual or small-group lessons at just the right moment.
Will the school provide transport?
Unfortunately. as a public charter school, Tempo does not recieve funding to provide transportation to their students.
How many students are being enrolled?
Our target enrollment is 150 students our first year, eventually growing to 500 and expanding into a Montessori high school in 2030.
